Synthetic Soul Prolog pt 9
“I never did give you a name.” Gaster said.
He’d realized it a little after the panic induced from the fiasco of essentially learning he would ‘carry’ the child in a sense, and trying to figure out how in the hell it had happened. He’d only ever referred to it as ‘little one’ or ‘human soul’, and neither were names.
“I suppose that’s something to think about, a name for a synthetic human soul with a body that will be a mix of monster and human."
The soul shifted, doing something that felt akin to snuggling deeper into a bed.
Gaster chuckled softly.

True healing magic was a rare thing among both monsters and humans, Ameretto was one of the few who possessed such a talent. And so did Gaster. The boy had a decent amount of Hp, though he was leaning towards fragile. He had a low defense, but he was powerful, that is to be expected of a human soul. They boy was incredibly intelligent, and curious; always seeking knowledge, always asking questions. Gaster was quick to pick up magic, and was pleasant enough company for Ameretto.
"Why Asgore, you shouldn't have!" Gaster exclaimed.
"Nonsense! There is no rule against obtaining a gift for a friend." Asgore responded.
Gaster hesitated a moment
Saitama was by no means a light sleeper- the world could be ending and he'd sleep right through it. There was only one person who could wake him up against his own accord, and currently that person was a shivering mass of metal and wires.
When you've lived with someone for over a month now, you kinda become attuned to them, or maybe that was just him. Either way it was really late at night and he was wide awake.
Genos was asleep, or as asleep as you can be when suffering a night terror. As stayed before, after living with someone for more than a month, you kinda become attuned to them, and this was no exception. Saitama quickly learned abou

After dropping his bag off in the lab, Gaster teleported to Grillby's house. The muffled sound of laughter brought a smile to his face. To tired to bother knocking, and not wanting to disturb the laughter, Gaster tested the door. It wasn't locked.
"Not sure how I feel about that." Gaster thought.
Light spilled out from the living room and into the dark hallway. No he could clearly hear the "Nyehehehehehe" that was Papyrus's laughter along with Sans's. Gaster made his way towards the living room, but paused, where was Grillby? It didn't sound like he was in the living room, was he somewhere else in the house?
"Gaster, you're back."

Asgore ran through the forest, underbrush pulling as his legs. Gaster was shivering, were they cold? Or was it out of fear? Trees transitioned into buildings, plush grass became packed dirt.
"Just a little farther, I know a monster who should be able to explain what happened".
Gaster let out a whimper. In response Asgore pulled them closer into his chest. Coming to a lone house on the outskirts of the town, Asgore paused at the door, inhaling deeply to catch his breath.
"Ameretto? Are you there?" Asgore called.
He was answered by foot steps that got louder. the door swung open to reveal a tall Skeleton.

"Hey Punk, Get back here!" Undyn shouted, chasing after a fast scooting Papyrus.
Sans and Alphys were immersed in what looked like a collaboration of Sans using his blue magic to make things float as Alphys directed him on how they should move. The adults where off in a corner, talking about stuff, periodically glancing at the children to make sure an accident did occur.
"So, how has your research on souls gone?" Lazura asked suddenly, resting her chin on one hand.
The red and orange fish monster, and Undyn's mother, was an odd one, she was the captain of the royal guards, always ready to spring into action at a moments notice. But she was

The forest was peaceful, the occasional chips from a bird of the light foot falls of a small animal created calm atmosphere that never went silent. Asgor drank it up, relishing in the peace as he walked, peace was hard to find these days, right now there was more fear than anything. A new, less soothing sound was added to the quiet din, a soft whimper of pain.
Princely instincts took over at that point, following the sound to the source only to find a terrible sight.
Laying on their back on the ground, blood pooling around them, was a human, a long gash ran from the top of their chest to the base of their stomach.

here was a flash of pain his his chest, a mix of purple and blue pulsed before his eyes as he watched his body attack the soul, with no success. The human soul seemed to settle down now, and the pain ebbed away. Everything clicked into place.
"My body's been using up magic and energy to try and destroy this soul, and clear out the determination from my soul." He realized.

Half a month later and the random periods of pain never went away, neither did the constant exhaustion, or the fact that he was still unable to use magic. The pain was easy enough to hide, and with semi-periodic naps made the exhaustion bearable.
The one thing he couldn't hide was the fact he couldn't use magic, for some reason his body was 'eating' it up so fast it was 'depleted' pretty much always. This had become a problem, if he couldn't use magic then he couldn't continue experimenting, and because of irrational paranoia Gaster didn't want to ask for help.

Returning home was the easy part, despite not being able to teleport, Edna's orders. No, the hard part was the near constant ache and the drained feeling. Gaster never seemed to have much energy, self healing magic spending more than a little of that energy. It worked out though, through the two weeks it took to recover he got to catch up on sleep. Sans and Papyrus, mostly Sans, were hesitant to interact much with their father, fearing that they might end up hurting him even more. But after a few days of rest and Gaster insisting that he'd recovered from worse, the cracks in his skull proof of that. The one this through all of this was the pr
