Sky kept silent as he was lead to his "home" in the king's chambers. The cage was what the name implied, a large bird like cage.

Sky stepped in with no fuss, he'd long ago learned to be docile if he wished to not be punished.

"The king, ho if I were free I'd kill him with my bear hands." he though bitterly.

The king squid relished in reminding his gem all he'd lost, and the deaths he'd been forced to see.

"But, in all, they are dead, because of my foolishness." he thought.

Sky contemplated ripping the veils off, but thought against it, it would do nothing but allow him to vent anger he must control.

Sky removed his veils, bet let them fall carelessly onto the floor of his prison.

"At least no one has tried to call this any thing other than a cage, for that is all it is, a prison of iron meant to be my home until death."

"Um, excuse me,"

Sky whirled around, thinking it was a servant, but it was not.

The person was a boy, or more a child entering early adult hood, like Sky had been when the war ended. The teen's brown hair was messy, his brown eyes were slightly obscured by his black framed glasses.

Tyler felt a blush creep onto his cheek.

"Male, definitely male." he thought, feeling embarrassed for thing he was a she.

"yes?" the man(?) asked.

His autumn-burn red-orange hair fell like water behind him, his eyes were a bright shade of gold that were aged by wisdom and something else, sorrow maybe?

"Um, who are you? And would you like to to get you out?" Tyler asked, wincing at how awkward he sounded.

The male eyes him like a caged animal, no pun intended.

"I am Sky, ex leader of the Sky Army. I was imprisoned here by the king." the last part was spoken in a grim and bitter tone.

Throwing all reason out the window, Tyler grabbed the chunk of obsidian he carried on him and began smashing it against the lock. The lock gave way after 5 hits and the door swung open.

Sky bolted, grabbing his arm in the process, and the two ran down the hallway.

"You better know the way out, I've been trapped for a few years."

Tyler nodded and took lead. He'd come from a window in one of the storage rooms, and he somehow knew how to get there. They were able to avoided guards and reach the room safely.

"I climbed the window, hopefully the ladder should..."

Tyler looked down and trailed off, his ladder was still there, up to a certain point, but only a small potion of the middle section.

"Oh f*ck!" he cursed.

"I think we-"

Sky cut him off by grabbing his arm and leaping off the window sill, and as they fell grabbed the lander that remained and slid down, the fall was softer that it could have been, but Tyler, who didn't have the feline balance Sky did, landed on his butt hard.

"...Ow!"

Sky giggled at the boy's reaction, then realized something.

"I just realized, you know my name, but I don't know yours."

The boy looked at him with blank eyes, the realized it was true.

"Hehe, sorry, names Tyler,"

The newly named boy offered a hand. Sky excepted said hand. His smile changed to that of horror.

"Oh shit!" he cried.

"Ty is going to kill me when I get back."

"Ty?"

Sky tiled his head.

"Yeah, Ty, my crazy teacher/commander. He said not to go into the palace."

Sky shook his head smiling.

"Well I might be able to lessen the punishment, you did save me after all." Sky reminded him.

Tyler stopped freaking out and looked at him.

"Really?"

Sky nodded.

"Thanks."
