Sky pressed his back against the brick wall behind him and peered past the corner, they were still there. The twisted and mutilated forms of the denazen were still blocking his intended route.

"F*ck." he thought.

The sun was still high in the sky, he had more than few hours of daylight left. One of the denazen, a smaller one that walked on all fours, sniffed the air and growled. Sky stiffened.

The denazen looked in the direction Sky was hiding, and locked it's lop sided jaw. It lumbered at a slow walk toward the ally Sky was pressed against.

Sky muttered ever curse he knew as the creature neared him, the stench of rotting flesh burned his nose. The grip on his knife tightens as he scooted father into the dark ally.

The denazen's beady black eyes burned as it turned. Sky's autumn-burn hair was bright against the dark shadows, the denazen caught sight of him easily. The thing gave a low growl and lunged, Sky twisted and shoved his knife as deep as it would go into it's skull.

The denazen sank it's large teeth into Sky's forearm before falling limp and dead. Sky stared at the creature as he caught his breath, the wound on his arm stung like hell. Grabbing the hilt, Sky yanked the knife free of the creature's head.

Sky peered back out from the ally. None of the other denazens acted as if they had heard the commotion, or noticed that one of their own was missing. Sky let out a sigh of relief.

"I should be safe for a few hours," he though.

Sky slid down into a sitting position and began tending to he new wound.

Ethan growled in annoyance.

"When will these things leave us be!?"

"I dunno, maybe when their dead?"

The albino shot his friend a steely glare.

"Dier, your my best friend, but you know when I'm in a very bad mood." The ex-navy said.

Dier grinned as if nothing  was wrong. Ethan let his hand collided with his face. He like the ex-marine/air force, but Dier could and would annoy him to no end.

"The sun's lower in the sky, I'd say we have only a few hours of daylight left." Dier noted.

Ethan looked at the blue sky, indeed the sun was closer to the horizon that it had been before.

"Let's go, other denazen might come back." Ethan said.

The two former military stepped over the dead bodies of partly eaten people and the corpses of denazen. Ethan felt his foot hit something and he tripped.

"God damn it!" he cursed.

"Ethan, um..."

Ethan looked at what he'd tripped over, and what Dier was looking at.

He had tripped over the body of a woman, her stomach had be heavily devoured, but they both could see the signs that told them she had been pregnant when she died.

Next to her was what looked like a dead denazen, the thing had a hunched back, but the most notable thing about it was it's large and bloated looked stomach.

"Dear god," Ethan muttered.

"I keep forgetting the denazen reproduce like we humans do, even if the genders are reversed." Ethan thought.

"We should do, their only bodies now." Dier said, offering Ethan a hand.

"Thanks," Ethan said, taking his hand.

Ethan's eyes lingered on the two bodies a moment longer, before he and Dier turned and left.
